My name is Heidrun Lang-Heran and I have been an English language teacher in a secondary (grammar) school since 1992 at BRG Körösistrasse Graz. Since 2003 I have been part of projects instigated by the ministry of education in Austria developing assessment tools and test for standardized national testing called Bildungsstandards. Since then I have been involved in numerous projects of the ministry. The latest ones in 2020 when I was part of the team writing a new curriculum for 10 - 14 year-olds, which will be implemented in 2023, furthermore I am part of a project group that creates competence grids also secondary schools. I have been coordinator of grammar school English teachers in our state Styria for about 10 years and have become representative of all English teachers in Austria last year. I have been teaching didactics courses at the university since 2013 and have also worked at the ÖSZ in Graz and for the IQS and the Language Testing Centre in Klagenfurt. I really enjoy doing all these jobs since they allow me to make a contribution to high quality English teaching in Austria.
